Icarus' Second Flight

Sculpture exhibited in October 2007 at the Cinematheque of Tel-Aviv, Israel.

Marble and Steel 180x70x40cm.

Mankind faces a moment of truth like Icarus, the Greek mythology hero. The myth of Icarus embodies the utopia of the invention of flight. The moment he discovers that his wax made wings made start to melt under the sun’s heat is decisive: he has the choice to continue upward and meet his death, or change course.
Icarus’ story is relevant today more than ever. Yet, this time we have a chance to rewrite a happier and more optimistic ending to the story by taking a sustainable path for future generations.

All the materials used for this sculpture were collected from abandoned sites or reclaimed from disuse.
